The Wizard of Oz
Directed By:
Sherri Trader-Hynes
The beloved musical fantasy follows Kansas farm girl Dorothy Gale, who is swept away by a tornado to the magical land of Oz, where she teams up with a Scarecrow longing for a brain, a Tin Man longing for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion longing for courage as they journey down the Yellow Brick Road to seek help from the mysterious Wizard. Pursued by the vengeful Wicked Witch of the West, who wants revenge for her sister's death and Dorothy's ruby slippers, the friends discover along the way that the qualities they sought were within them all along. Adapted from L. Frank Baum's novel and inseparable from the classic 1939 MGM film, the stage version brings its iconic songs, including Over the Rainbow and We're Off to See the Wizard, to life with elaborate scenery and effects. It remains one of the most cherished family musicals for its themes of courage, friendship, and the value of home.
