Forty Carats
A romantic comedy about a poised, forty-year-old divorced real estate agent who unexpectedly falls in love with a much younger man during a business trip to Hong Kong. Back home, she must navigate the raised eyebrows of friends and family, her own insecurities about the age gap, and the persistent, more age-appropriate suitor who still hopes to win her back. The play gently satirizes conventional expectations about romance and age while ultimately championing genuine connection over social convention. It was a Broadway hit in its day and later adapted into a film starring Walter Matthau, prized for its sophisticated, urbane wit.
