Plaza Suite

Neil Simon's comedy unfolds as three separate, unrelated stories, each set in the same suite at New York's Plaza Hotel. In the first, a long-married couple's anniversary getaway curdles into a reckoning with the fading romance in their marriage; in the second, a Hollywood producer tries to rekindle an old flame from his hometown; and in the third, a father and mother battle to coax their terrified daughter out of the bathroom on her wedding day. Each vignette mines a different flavor of comedy, from bittersweet marital melancholy to slick seduction to frantic farce, while sharing the same hotel room as a witty unifying device. It's a showcase for Simon's gift for rapid-fire dialogue and finely observed relationship comedy.
