The Sunshine Boys
Directed By:
Ken Johnson
Neil Simon's comedy centers on two aging former vaudeville partners, once one of the most celebrated comedy duos in the business, who have been bitterly estranged for over a decade after an ugly professional falling-out. When a television special wants to reunite them for a nostalgic performance of their classic sketch, the cantankerous pair must be coaxed back together by one of their nephews, reigniting old grudges, comic bickering, and grudging affection in equal measure. The play is both a loving tribute to the vanished world of vaudeville and a sharp character study of two men too stubborn to admit how much they've missed each other. It's one of Simon's most beloved explorations of long friendship, pride, and mortality wrapped in classic comic bickering.
